Dr. Penny Wootton, DVM

Dr. Penny Wootton began her studies at the University of Guelph in Wildlife Biology. After graduation, she spent several years working as a biologist on projects around the country from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Eventually, after working as a technician in medical research at the University of Calgary, Penny decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College(OVC) at the University of Guelph in 1991 she moved back to Calgary and for a few years working at a small animal clinic just north of the city. More experience was then gained as a locum veterinarian in and around southern Alberta.

An avid outdoor enthusiast Penny spent as much time as possible hiking and back-country skiing in the Rocky Mountains but eventually the Montreal native felt the pull to come back closer to her roots. She and her family decided to move to Chelsea in 2002, complete with one dog and two cats.

After two years at a practice in Ottawa Dr. Wootton joined Dr. Froimovitch at the clinic he started in 1979. It felt like the right choice and the Gatineau Hills, although not quite as big as the Rockies, have turned out to be the most amazing place to live. There is unlimited opportunity for outdoor pursuits, great proximity to our nation’s capital and the Hills are home to a vibrant bilingual community.

Becoming co-owner of the practice in 2011 Penny is happily settled in Chelsea and hopes to continue to serve pets and their families in the Gatineau Hills for years to come.
